The Foundation works with school, college and university students in Argentina, as well as local businesses and individuals. This means that whoever you are, and whatever you do, you can do something to help.
School and College students
We want your school to get involved! We will always welcome new schools to join our ‘Family of Schools’. This means that your school will be paired with an Argentinean school and you and your classmates will be able to talk to the students there. Read on for more detail (link).
As an individual, or with your friends, you can also help to raise money for the Foundation. For example, it might be a sponsored stay awake, a cake sale or a bike ride. Even if your school doesn’t join the Family, we can still pair you up with a student of a similar age and with similar interests and you can get in touch with them yourself.
University Students
The young people in Argentina don’t have family or friends who have already been to university and it can be a daunting prospect. They are paired with students from the local Salta university but it would be great for them to speak to students in the UK. Read more on the ‘Mentoring’ page.
If you are taking a few months off before you start uni or work and you’d like to volunteer to work with the youngsters in Salta then let us know. Subject to availability we can provide free accommodation. It is a great experience (click here to read about Andy and Sarah’s experience), and looks great on your CV.
You can also help us by raising awareness of the Foundation, and money at the same time. How about a stall in the Union, a 5-a-side football game or a sponsored doing something weird for a day?
Businesses
Your staff can become mentors to the young people in Argentina once they are in university. Our students study a range of subjects from accounting to psychology and they need career mentors.
Does your business have an Argentinean office? Your business can offer work experience opportunities to the Argentinean youngsters.
Are you looking for a new ‘Charity of the Year?’. Why not make it the Foundation? Raise money during the year through dress-down days and other events. Perhaps even your business could offer up a flight to Argentina for a member of staff to come and volunteer with us!
Charities and other organisations
We are still a young charity and we are continually learning new things. We would love to speak to any charity or other organisation which has similar aims to us and who may want to work in partnership either in the UK or Argentina.
Individuals
The power of one is great! Most of what we have achieved so far has been as a result of the outstanding efforts of many individuals. People have run marathons, rode the length of the country, had rock gigs and sold t-shirts.
People are also volunteering their time and becoming mentors to the youngsters in Argentina, and others have been out to Salta to volunteer and get a real flavour of what the Foundation is doing.
We are also in need of support to actually run the Foundation in the UK! If could commit to at least 4 hours a month then please get in touch and you could be part of the team. Maybe you’re great with numbers and can help with the accounting, maybe you’re a website wizz and could help with the site maintenance, or are you a designer who can help us with our leaflets and brochures? We would love to hear from you.
